Time both seemed to slow and move faster since the battle that had taken place here. No more snow covered the ground, no evidence of what had happened. This was the place where his life had been saved, spared... But in the end, now, did he really want to be saved? His life has he knew it had changed so much since the day this happened, nothing he knew was true, or real, or even remotely right. Everything had fallen apart, his mind, parts of his body, and his love. Or, the women he thought was his love.
Mating was something vampires did for life, she said. Riley had always thought it was him she loved, not the vampire he learned was named James. A vampire who had been killed by the Cullens after he selfishly hunted Bella, the amazing-smelled girl. This was the reason he was even created... To avenge the death of a fallen lover... But in the process, acting as if Riley was her lover... Riley put his hand between his throat and chest, unsure if he was going to throw up, or cry.
Riley was completely heart broken. He believed completely what Edward Cullen had told Riley, but it was hard to wrap his head around. Victoria, the only thing in the whole world he was sure about, had been lying to him, and now was dead. He had gone through so much pain, both physically and emotionally, to be with Victoria. He left his family, his school, his friends, his life, behind for her. And now that she was gone, his whole world was in a spiral of confusion. There was nothing for him anymore. Riley had been debating suicide for quite awhile, but he knew that his 'second chance' had to mean something... He just had to figure it out.
Riley looked around at the scenery before him. The sun was starting to rise slowly over the horizon, and in the distance Riley could see the water glittering by the new found light. It was beautiful, really, especially with his new eyes. At the moment, they were a deep crimson color, slowly fading to black. He would have to feed soon enough, but at the moment, Riley was content.

There was a beauty to sunrises that was solely their own, really. The touches of light that graced the scenery little by little, warming tones that spoke of hope and new beginnings-- and that was without taking how the colors and shades reflected off of the water beyond. Add in the stirrings of Mother Nature and it was a sight that could stir the soul... if one wasn't looking at it through the beginnings of one Hell of a hangover, that is. That's why most of the beauty of the rising sun was lost on the slender blond that made her way vaguely, unknowingly toward Riley's current position; the light intensified the headache that was steadily pounding away at her temples. Usually, Azra's solution to a hangover was to get wasted all over again, but that wasn't something she could afford today-- not when she had a meeting with some potential clients later. If it wasn't for how they claimed to know something about the enigmatic duo of redheaded hunters that she had once ran with, she would've just canceled... but since she had no real option but to go, she had chosen to take a walk instead in an attempt to exercise the damn thing into submission. It hadn't worked, so far, but at least she was trying... right?
Tch.
Rolling her eyes at herself, Azra took a swig of the bottle of water she had pilfered from some peppy morning jogger in an attempt to get rid of the cotton-dry feeling her mouth had before she continued her way upward. The wind was favoring her at the moment, blowing toward her rather than away. With the heavy, plodding sound of her combat boots as she walked forward, there was no way that she would be sneaking up on anyone that wasn't either deaf or oblivious to what was going on the world around them... not that she was particularly stealthy, considering the brilliant white splattered with red that adorned her torso and the plethora of bracelets and necklaces that jangled as she moved. If anything, the way she was dressed drew attention to herself with ginormous neon arrows. Such was the nature of her work, after all-- and also how some habits carried over even when she wasn't on the clock. Such was why she had on that thick black leather collar that was festooned with spikes of various sizes, each one individually sharpened well beyond what was sold in stores. Blond hair left loose to blow about in the wind as it would, she came around the bend... and into sight for Riley, although she hasn't picked up on his presence left. Judging by the lingering scent of gunpowder, she wasn't unarmed, either... although that was likely a certainty that Riley had long since learned to question.

To caught up in his own thoughts, wallowing in his own emotions and self pity, he hadn't even realized that the girl was coming towards him until she was just around the bend. The hair on the back of his neck stood straight up, alert. He cast his eyes towards the sound, waiting patiently for her to come into view. He could smell her, and it almost made him go wild. He had never smelt anything like her, but he knew this was a popular hiking trail, especially during summer. He looked down at his skin. Because of the sun just rising, it hadn't hit it yet, and for now he was just glowing softly. Nothing a human would notice.
She rounded the bend, and he clenched his teeth shut. His eyes widened. If his eyes were black instead of deep red, he would have attacked her. He was only a few years old, as a vampire, and was usually quite good in controling himself near a human. But this girl was completely different. Everything about her drew him in, unlike a normal human. Usually it was just the scent, but there was something else there too... An aura of sorts. Like a moth to a light. Or, like a vampire to blood. He watched her carefully, not even caring anymore about breathing or trying to move around. He was completely still, like a statue in Athens.
"Who are you?" Riley said through clenched teeth. Her smell was intoxicating, but he held his ground. He tried to focus on anything else... The musky smell of the pine trees around him, the soft soil, even a deer which was not far away. It was difficult, but not impossible.

Rounding the bend, the blond took a couple of steps forward... then stopped, mentally unleashing a string of cursewords that would've killed the Pope at what she saw in front of her. Not that Riley wasn't easy on the eyes, because he was... but she noticed the deep red hue of his irises, and that just blew everything all to Hell. No matter how attractive the features, there was no denying that Riley was a vampire... and encountering one alone was about the worst thing that could happen shy of running into an entire coven of the glittering bastards. Keeping her free hand loose and at her side, she decided against immediately reaching for her Berretta since that would probably provoke him into making his move sooner than later. Besides, upon a quick second glance, he looked just as caught off-guard as she was. Maybe he was one of the Cullens that had come up here to hunt, and she'd just stumbled upon him right before he set out to feed on a deer or a squirrel, or perhaps Sasquatch. When he asked who she was, she decided to give him the benefit of the doubt since she'd heard that there was a teenaged-looking young man amongst the 'vegetarian vampires' with light brown hair. That didn't stop her inner smartass from taking the reigns, though... although then again? It was rare when it didn't.
"The Goddamn Easter Bunny, out for some tail since I lost mine." The blond's voice was low and slightly raspy, almost like what one would imagine a blues singer to sound like... if one didn't take the heaping amount of sarcasm she used into account, that is. Taking a final swig of water, she tossed the bottle aside without so much as a second thought as she reached down the front of her tank-top to pull out a battered pack of Marlboros. Putting one to her lips, she lit it with the cheap Bic she had on her, taking a drag before she continued to speak. "But I don't do fanged glitter-asses, so it looks like you're shit out of luck. Might I recommend finding yourself some coffin bait?"
Whoa, wait... she knew what he was?! Azra did all she could to keep the appearance up of being completely unafraid, of being in control when the situation could go very bad, very fast.
